If you have ever wondered if your mind is safe from the unhealthy amounts of exposure to content, first off, we are here to tell you it’s not.

On the other hand, if you do come across one of @laratakiii ‘s videos, rest assured, it is all dance, light, unfiltered talk, and very good advice from Lara’s momma herself!
Lara’s mom, if you’re reading this, we love you!

We sat down with a crowd favorite creator, and we talked everything from dance and the power it holds, comfort food, to the dynamics of her relationship with her family.

Enjoy!

Lara, what are your key takeaways from 2023?

Well it was a very long year. I learned that there is truly a reason for everything, so let the world guide you to where you are meant to be.

There's no timeline to your life. You are on your own journey, so there's no such thing as being late in life, simply because you’re on your own time

If you could give this chapter of your life a title, what would it be?

The Beginning of Something

It can be hard to sustain a strong bond with one’s family, as we grow up.

How do you manage to keep your relationship with your mom thriving?

My mom is my best friend. We spent years working on our relationship, and how we communicate with each other.

What changed predominantly is that when we fight or argue, we now remind each other that the goal of the conversation is to solve the issue and not to win the argument.

We also genuinely love spending time together, and we try to find things that we genuinely enjoy doing together.

What are 3 core lessons your mom has taught you?

This too shall pass.

Quality over Quantity

Keep growing.

A couple of years ago, you mentioned working at a nursery.

Walk us through the experience of being around kids?

It’s beyond beautiful to be around kids.

Everything is so interesting to them; they carry so much curiosity.

I think we can learn a few things from children.

Do you think everyone should dance? Why is that?

I do. Specifically women, it allows you to step out of your comfort zone and extends you awareness of your body.

There's also a sense of community and so many different people that come together to do something they  love.

Describe your ideal friend.

Honest

Non-Judgemental

Empathetic

Funny

Caring

What is your comfort food?

Pizza, Pasta and Asian Cuisine

What is it that all people you like have in common?

Do you think it says anything about you?

I really value honesty and people that aren't scared to tell me when I've done something wrong.

I think it's really important to always work on improving oneself, by having people that put you in place or simply hold a different take on things.

What do you love about your siblings the most?

My siblings and I know each other better than anyone else; we’re really close and we have been through so much together.

I love that there isn't anything that I cannot share with them, doesn’t matter how good or bad.

How did your relationship with your ever-growing platform change over time? What are some lessons you have learnt?

It started off as a joke.

Honestly, I had a lot of friends that had started creating content and they would constantly be filming,

so I figured  “if you can't beat them, join them.”

Over time I started to actually enjoy making content and the instant gratification started to really make me feel good. I started to treat it like my personal heavily edited online journal and that's when it really began to grow.

One of the things I've learnt is that we all have so much in common, and we all feel the same. Sometimes we just need reassurance that we are not alone, and that's where I feel like social media is a great place…sometimes.

Being online has also made me more critical of myself because I forget that the so-called audience watching are actual human beings, and not mere members of an application.

I get really anxious in public spaces so I stress over the way my supporters will perceive me should we meet in real life.

I genuinely don't want to disappoint anyone, especially because I feel like we build such an amazing and supportive community. I just get so nervous and I don't know how to act, so that's one thing I'm trying to work on and I am getting better at.
