It was time we talked to MUA, @farahalymakeup .
Farah launched her ever-growing portfolio back in 2020, and was quickly able to truly show the world her impeccable technical skills.
She has done it all: soirée, bridal, editorial & red carpet, and had her work featured on @enigmamagazine and more!
She recently took the world by a storm with her super helpful content; she talks dupes and tutorials.
Check it out, you’ll be binging on it all night!
Today, Farah shares her exclusive daily makeup routine, as well as more on her backstory and what it means to be a makeup artist in Egypt.

Farah, what first got you into makeup?
For my 7th birthday, my aunt bought me a makeup bag with real, adult makeup!
I remember every product in the bag, especially the sparkly fuschia L’oreal lipgloss! its been an obsession ever since!”
It can be quite difficult to stay consistent with one’s hobbies/ passion projects, do you have a tip for that?
I’m honestly not a very consistent person which makes it kind of hard sometimes, but I like to experiment and keeping things interesting because I get bored which makes me drop things easily.
As soon as I’m done with something I’m bored with it and I need
bigger and better and more colorful!
I like to not say no to any projects, especially if they’re different than anything I did before.

How do you think one can know when they are meant to do something in life?
Do you think it’s a choice, or a gift (, destiny, you name it…)?
When you know you know, it’s always in the back of your mind; something will always push you towards it no matter what!

Editorial OR Everyday Makeup?
Hmmm… I think it depends on my mood really, but lately I’ve been more into everyday makeup.

What is your proudest moment in your career so far?
All of it, I am so proud of every single accomplishment, big or small, I am so grateful for everything.

What is a piece of advice you would give to an aspiring makeup artist?
Don’t compare yourself to anyone else. This stopped me for years but truth is, I was the only person getting in my way.

What’s your favorite makeup product, currently?
Oh wow! That’s a hard one.
I think it’s Dior backstage highlight palette it just can’t be topped!

What is the most challenging aspect about being a makeup artist, in your experience?
Washing brushes and keeping my kit fully stocked. Behind the Scenes of every shoot isn’t the prettiest either.

If you could do anyone’s makeup, dead or alive, who would it be?
Rihanna!

Whose work inspires you?
Patrick Ta, Mario, Aya Abdelhamid.

How did makeup and working professionally with makeup change you as a person?
I used to be very shy and quiet, but now I’m really outgoing, and I generally love talking to people.

2017 OR 2022: Makeup?
2022 for sure, 2017 was a mess.

Do you think social media plays a role in raising girls’ expectations in an unrealistic way for how their makeup turns out when being done by professionals?
For sure! But I always tell them color covers color; it doesn’t cover texture and skin will always look like skin!
